What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Harbor Light Community Chapel based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

The Holy Scriptures

The Eternal Godhead

We believe the Bible was written by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and is our only guide for life.

We believe there is one God in three persons, Father, Son and Spirit.

Fall of Man

Plan of Redemption

We believe God created man in his image, perfect and sinless. Man rebelled against God and by disobedience, introduced sin and death into the world.

We believe the restoration of the relationship between God and man only happens through Jesus and his death, burial and resurrection. He took our place and died as the perfect sacrifice.

Salvation Through Grace

Repentance and Acceptance

We believe that we are saved not by any of our works, but entirely by the shed blood of Jesus. We are made righteous by accepting this fact.

We believe upon sincere repentance, godly sorrow for sin and confession of faith in Jesus that we are accepted by God and made a part of His family.

The New Birth

The Daily Christian Life

We believe upon sincere repentance, godly sorrow for sin and confession of faith in Jesus that we are accepted by God and made a part of His family.

We believe the believer in Jesus begins to be changed from the inside out. There are disciplines that need to be incorporated into life to help us. Things such as bible reading, prayer, worshipping God, and being in relationship with other believers are necessary.

Sacraments

Baptism in the Holy Spirit

We believe Jesus gave clear guidance for believers to continue in communion and water baptism. We also believe the bible is very clear that marriage is between one man and one woman.
We believe there is another baptism that is essential to the victorious Christian life, it is Baptism in the Holy Spirit. This is baptism is in power and fire. It is a surrendering to the power of the Spirit in our lives to impact the world for God.

The Spirit Filled Life

The Gifts and Fruits of the Spirit

We believe upon sincere repentance, godly sorrow for sin and confession of faith in Jesus that we are accepted by God and made a part of His family.

We believe Holy Spirit has given each believer special gifts that are to be used to help show the world that God loves them and is drawing them to himself. The evidence that the Spirit is dwelling in us can be seen by the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness, and self-control.

Moderation

Divine Healing

We believe that there is complete freedom for every believer in life, and all things need to be done moderation. We want the control of our lives to be subject to God not substances or selfish desires.
We believe when people are sick that we can pray for them and see them healed. Healing is as much a part of Salvation as the forgiveness from sins is

The Second Coming of Jesus

Relationship in the Family

We believe Jesus is coming back to earth again. This time He will establish His kingdom and we will be a part of this kingdom. We are looking for and helping to prepare for His second coming.

We believe that having accepted the forgiveness and love of Jesus that we have been adopted into the Family of God. We want to be connected to the church, the bride of Christ, by gathering together in celebration and small groups to carry out the mission of the church in this world.
