Pastors 

Gary Mindel and LisaKay

Senior Pastor 

Pastor Gary Mindel and LisaKay lead Harbor Light Community Chapel with a heart for people and a passion for sharing God’s love. Whether he’s preaching, serving the community, or simply listening, Pastor Gary is committed to meeting people where they are and walking alongside them.
He believes in the power of the gospel, the strength of community, and the truth of scripture. To Pastor Gary, Harbor Light isn’t just a church—it’s a place where everyone is welcome to know God more deeply, find lasting freedom, discover their destiny, and make an eternal difference.

Alex Norton 

Discipleship / Small Groups
Pastor Alex  serves as the Discipleship Pastor at Harbor Light Community Chapel, where his passion is helping people grow deeper in their faith and live out their purpose. Alex’s heart is for guiding others on their spiritual journey, whether through teaching, mentorship, or creating opportunities for connection and growth. 

Aimee Norton

Missions Pastor 
Pastor Aimee serves as the Missions Director at Harbor Light Community Chapel, leading initiatives that extend God's love beyond our walls. She leads DoLove Mission Trips, offering opportunities for people to serve communities both locally and globally. Additionally, she oversees our benevolence programs and maintains connections with the missions we support. 

Ted Polleys

Worship Pastor 
Pastor Ted Polleys serves as the Worship Pastor at Harbor Light Community Chapel, leading the congregation in heartfelt, God-centered worship. With a passion for music and a heart for ministry, Ted works to create worship experiences that help people connect with God and grow in their faith 

Matt Burek

Youth Pastor
Pastor Matt Burek has been the Youth Pastor at Harbor Light Community Chapel since 1999. After graduating from Bible college, he came to Northern Michigan for a summer internship and never left. Matt leads student ministries from 5th grade through college, helping young people encounter Jesus and grow in their faith. He’s passionate about empowering students as the church of today, not just tomorrow. 

Staff

Chelsea Robertson

Children's Ministry Director
Chelsea Robertson leads the Children's Ministry at Harbor Light Community Chapel, creating a space where kids can grow in their faith and build meaningful connections. Through KidVenture, designed for children from birth through 4th grade, Chelsea ensures every child experiences engaging worship, interactive lessons, and a safe, fun environment.
Her passion is helping kids discover God’s love and guiding them as they take their first steps in their walk with Christ.

Kelly Dutcher

School Administrator 
Kelly Dutcher is the Administrator of Harbor Light Christian School, contributing over 14 years of educational experience to the community. With a degree in History and Social Studies for Secondary Education from Lake Superior State University and a Master’s in American History and Government from Ashland University, Kelly is dedicated to delivering a Christ-centered education that equips students both academically and spiritually. Her leadership is marked by a commitment to excellence and a deep passion for guiding the next generation of Christian leaders. 

Mandi Garber

Finance Analyst
Mandi Garber grew up attending Harbor Light and now serves as the Finance Analyst at HLCC. She manages the church’s finances with care and integrity, ensuring that resources are used wisely to support the mission of helping people grow in their faith, find freedom, discover their purpose, and make a lasting impact. 

Jill Byard

Office Manager
Jill Byard has been with Harbor Light Community Chapel since 2016 and serves as the Office Manager. She keeps the church running smoothly by managing daily operations and overseeing the church calendar. Known for her friendly and organized approach, Jill helps ensure everything is ready to support the church’s mission.
Outside the office, Jill loves Northern Michigan’s shoreline, warm weather, and going barefoot.

Brian Budnik

Facilities Director
Brian Budnik serves as the Facilities Director at Harbor Light Community Chapel, making sure our church is welcoming, functional, and ready for everything from Sunday services to community events. His hard work and dedication ensure our spaces are well-maintained and support the mission of helping people grow in their faith and make an impact. 

Riley Cope

Free Life Director 
Riley Cope leads the Free Life Journey at Harbor Light Community Chapel, an eight-week small group study followed by a powerful weekend retreat. This program is all about helping people grow in their relationship with Christ and experience real freedom in their faith. Riley is passionate about creating a space where individuals can be honest with God and experience His love in a life-changing way.

Bob Johnson 

Elder
Bob Johnson serves as an Elder at Harbor Light Community Chapel, offering spiritual leadership and support to the church family. Alongside his wife, Dora, Bob is passionate about helping others grow in their faith, find freedom, and discover their God-given purpose.

Chuck Drianis 

Elder 
Chuck and Sue Drians serve as Elders at Harbor Light Community Chapel, offering care and guidance to our church family. They’re passionate about supporting the spiritual growth of others and helping to build a welcoming, Christ-centered community. 

Clark Hewitt 

Elder 
Clark and Heidi Hewitt serve as Elders at Harbor Light Community Chapel, offering care and encouragement to the church family. With a heart for people and a love for Jesus, they’re committed to helping others grow in their faith and feel connected. 

John Walker 

Elder 
John Walker serves as an Elder at Harbor Light Community Chapel, offering care and support to the church family. Alongside his wife, Michele, John is committed to helping others grow in their faith and making Harbor Light a place where everyone feels welcome and connected.
